How do you know if someone has tampered with an odometer?

I'm looking at this used car, and it seems too good to be true.

The only way to be able to tell is to look at the carfax. I believe it is only twenty dollars and it will show you every time the car had work done and the mileage. If it is turned back you will deffinately know and you should report the people selling the car.

You should have the vin checked by a service like carfax. They will be able to list previous mileage increment and ell you if it's accurate.

Tamper with the odometer is easy. they disconnect it, you know when you get pulled over because you don't know how fast you were going?? same concept but yours isn't on purpose. people will buy cars disconnect them then reconnect and you get screwed

I know some one who leased a new honda & dissconnected the speedo/odometer. He put on about 60K miles, later rconnected it to show about 30K mile when the lease was over. Who ever ended up buying that car from the dealer got screwed. His GPS unit told his speed.
