How do you knit a lace pattern?

I have been attempting to knit lace for some time now and can not seem to get it right.

Each lace pattern has a typical "repeat" pattern. Use stitch markers to signify where the "repeat" starts/finishes. When you get to a marker, verify that you have the correct number of stitches before going to the next section. Use a safety line where you know the stitches are correct, in case you need to rip some out.

I would suggest going to a knitting store and signing up for lessons. Some of the more intricate lace patterns are for advanced knitters. You probably just have a small mental block that will go away when you have someone walk you through it. You could also see if U Tube has an instruction video.

Lace pattern must be fairly simple to knit. A long stetch need to be put near the border in the form of a lace and continue it.
