How do you insulate a basement ceiling?

I need to insulate a basement ceiling.

Starting from the rim joist, from the top of foundation, put insulation between the joists and rod in every 2 feet or hold it up.

By stapling insulation on the edges around all joists is the first step. Proceed to the pipes and duct work repeating the stapling until completed. Finish with the floor ceiling.

Insulating the ceiling really has no major impact on the heat of a house unless there is a considerable temperature difference. Purchase insulation at the hardware store and staple it in place, then all you have to do is cover it.

I would like to insulate a basement ceiling using strong gums or putties whichever is economical and easily available to me in this remote area of this great land.
