First you will need to put anchors into the wall. Do not put screws into the wall without anchors or your towel bar will be loose within days.

When hanging anything on drywall, the best case scenario is to anchor at least one end into a wall stud. If no wall stud is available to screw into, you should use a heavy duty drywall anchor that will prevent the towel bar from pulling out of the wall.
