How do you go about finding the height of a triangle?

If you know the area and the length of the base of the triangle, you can determine the height by using the formula area = 1/2 * base * height.

Drop a perpendicular from the vertex from which you need to find the height to the base. The height of this perpendicular is the height of the triangle. Find the angular measure of the angle opposite to the perpendicular. The hypotenuse is side opposite to 90 degree angle created by the perpendicular. Calculate height = hypotenuse x sin (angle measure).

If you know the area and the length of the base, then double the base and divide by the area. If you know the sides and the angle measures, then multiply: side X sine (A) = height. Where the side is the side that makes angle A with the base.

If it's a right angled triangle then you use Pythagoras Theorem, i. e : H^2=P^2+B^2 where P:Height, B:Base, H:Hypotenuse. You can also use Trigonometric Ratios for Sin/Tan to find height. If you are unsure then use the Area formula of a triangle: A = 1/2 x BH where, H = Height and B = Base.

You can find the height if you know other parts. If you know Base & area, use: Base(Height)=Area. You could also use Pythagorean Theorem if it's a right triangle: A^2+B^2=C^2
