How do you get paid back for a custom paint job on a car insurance claim?

I need information on custom paint and insurance claims.

Insurance often will not cover custom work/paint and/or aftermarket additions unless specified in the policy. Check your policy or contact your agent for details regarding your specific policy.

This will be hard to get reimbursed for this unless you had already told your insurance company about it since in most states this is considered a custom car.

If you are seeking reimbursement for repairs not caused by an accident, hail storm or hurricane you will not get your money back. File a claim to see.

Usually you will have to make sure that the DMV form for your car says "----Custom" with whatever color covers a majority of the car. Then the insurance needs a receipt of the paint work and then if and when you need to file a claim, they will reinburse.

Whether or not it is covered will depend on your particular policy. I would try and find a receipt for the paint job in case they will pay for it.

I am so sorry to say that no one above me including me will be correct. Considering, every shop right now is struggling due to the economy, everyone including me as a business owner is bringing down our prices! Now, if this helps... I was originally being quoted around $10,000. I finally found someone to do it for $4,500.
