This answer is similar to what needs to be done on any computer. First, find the system restore cd and then place it into your cd rom. Next, click start and then click on My computer to open the drive and then click to play the disk in the drive.

You vaio should have come with restore discs. All you do is put one in the cd drive and when it boots up follow the instructions. If for some reason you lost them you can probably order new ones from the site. You could also purchase a copy of windows 7 and just install that.

If you are using Windows Vista, the Start panel should have System Restore in Accessories > System Tools. There is also a VAIO Data Restore that is simply in the Start Menu without a folder. If you are not using Vista, I would try using your computer's Search function.

Follow: Control panel>vaio recovery wizard, and follow the onscreen instructions. This will reinstall Windows to factory defaults. If this option isn't available, boot from System Recovery #1 (insert CD and restart). The recovery process should start automatically upon restart. Again, just follow the onscreen instructions provided by the recovery management tool.
