How do you clean irons?

I've got black stuff all over the heat plate on mine.

I would recommend using Tub-n-Tile. It is not harsh at all but is able to remove most anything from iron, copper, steel. I know many people have used it not only to clean bathrooms, but also coins to remove the gunk that has gathered over the years. Tub-n-Tile is my recommendation for the best results.

I've found that using the Mr Clean Eraser Pad helps in removing the black stuff that gets stuck to the underside of an iron.

Try warm water and baking soda with a slightly abrasive scrubber. If this doesn't work, try it with vinegar. Let it sit for a while then scrub.

The easiest way to clean the bottom of an iron is to use a mixture of vinegar and baking soda, this will take all of the black off the bottom of the iron.
