How do you care for an extracted tooth?

Not the tooth--the hole where it was.

You need to keep a gauze pack on the wound for about 45 minutes. If there is still bleeding, replace the gauze and hold it there until it subsides. You must rest and keep the extraction site clean so it can heal, and take your pain medication to stay comfortable.

Do not chew on that side, do not drink from a straw. Your dentist should have given you a little syringe to wash out the hole with water.

You need to be very careful and clean the wound often, especially if it is bleeding. Avoid salty and sugary foods since they might irritate the hole.

Well always brush your teeth even around the gum where the teeth use to be. Also rinse with water and mouth wash. Clean our mouth out after every time you eat. Don't be afraid to use a pick to clean out hard to remove food matter.
