These animals aren't very human-friendly so care taking is minimal if you want to do it. Whether you'll be successful is another question. Give them a place with shallow but not fast moving water, like a shallow pond or lake. For food, they can feed on seeds and insects. The rest, they'll take care of themselves.

These creatures are much like ducks. They do their best in groups. Keep your mallard in your yard or open spaces and feed those greens and vegetables.

Mallards are very similar to other ducks and do best in groups. Instead of duck feed however, feed your mallard game-bird feed plus some greens(vegetable scraps or weeds).

Mallard hens like open spaces so they are comfortable in yards. They are not very friendly towards humans and can cope by themselves. They feed on insects, vegetables and greens.

You can keep a mallard hen in your yard, but if you have more then one you should keep them apart, because they peck at each other.
