Answer by  Henry55 (118)

Molecular weight is calculated by adding up the atomic masses of each atom in the particular molecule in question. For example, water, H20, has two atoms of hydrogen (1amu each) and one atom of oxygen (16 amu), therefore water has a molecular weight of 18 amu (atomic mass units).

Molecular weight is calculated by summing the mass of atoms found in whatever molecule it is. For example, in a molecule of water (H2O), hydrogen has an atomic weight of 1 and oxygen has an atomic weight of 16. So in the case of a molecule of water, it has a molecular weight of 18 amu (atomic mass units).
