The only way to turn off the worn brake pad light is to fix the brake pad / caliper that is defective.

As long as you have replaced the pads with those that have the proper sensor, any scanner or auto diagnostic tool will allow you to reset all trouble and fault codes in the vehicle. The warning light is triggered by worn pads, and will give an open signal if missing. If the wrong pads are installed, it won't shut off.

Once the brakes have been repaired, the code will need to be cleared form the ecm. Do this by having someone with a diagnostic tool clear the codes. Certain shops and some automotive supply stores will do this for you. You could also buy the tool yourself. You can also unhook the battery but this will reset everything.

There is a sensor in the brake pad itself. Once the pad has worn down to a certain level the sensor is damaged which turns the light on. The only way to turn the light off is to get new brake pad installed.

There are two ways to reset the light. The best way is to use a automotive code reader to reset the sensor. If you don't have a code reader then you can disconnect the battery for about 15 seconds. This may also rest some of your other electronics though.

You will need to replace the pads and the sensor. If you've already replaced the pads and sensor then you have a faulty sensor.

Replace the brake pads. If this has already been done, it is best to go to a dealer and have them turn it off. The wire that senses that the breaks need to be replaced may be broken and needs to be replaced.
