It is best not to prune to often. Sterlize pruning shears often. The best time to prune is early spring. Pruning at a 45-degree angle is best to encourage future grouth. Prune 2 feet below required height. It is best to remove canes from the base of the rose bush because they dont always produce good blooms.

Don't prune the first two years except to shape or eliminate dead wood is recommended. Then remove one third of dead wood each year after that. Use clean tools and start from bottom and open up center for air and light. Prune 1/4" above bud, 45-degree angle.

Prune your roses in the spring so that it will flower well. You need to cut them back 2 feet past the height that you want them to be. The more canes you cut down the better the flower will grow. If you don't care about flowering you can prune the roses in the summer.

To prune Knockout trees,we use sharp bypass hand-held pruning shears. First,we should cut off any deadwood. Then we have to cut away the spindly canes growing from the base. When we shard to shape the rose,so trim them below two feet the height because the Knockouts grows vigorously. To encourage the growth, cut above the outward facing bud from an angle of 45 degrees.

prune about two feet back from the height. Should you want a 3 foot bush then down it goes to 18 inches high. To activate a rose into growth you prune back in the spring but to keep a rose under control you do it in the summer. You could take the Knock Out roses right down with no problems.

You prune them the same way you prune any other rose. But make sure when you do it you only prune the brown tips never cut anything green or the plant will die back.
