Yellow grass is usually from dog urination in the yard. Pour lots of water on spot immediately after. Resow area with urine resistent grass seeds. Teach pet bathroom use elsewhere.

Yellow grass is often caused by excessive heat or cold. To prevent it in the summer, water the grass daily. There is nothing you can do in winter.

Keep the grass nice and moist, and if you have a dog don't let them pee on the grass because they can make it turn yellow as well.

Preventing yellow grass really comes down to having proper lawn care. Making sure that the lawn has enough nitrogen, food, in it is a major factor. Also using a fertilizer with iron in it will help promote a very nice dark green color. Also making sure it is watered and mowed properly with ensure a healthy lawn
