Plant them 1/2 feet down underground. Put some organic fertilizer in the dirt that you are planting with. Make sure to water them twice daily. Also, make sure they are planted in direct sunlight. They are native to the South which often gets more sun.

Nature alone is the best way to seed rose of sharon plants. In the fall the seeds will drop and in the spring they germinate. Plant the new baby altheas.

I always soak Althea or Hibiscus seed for a few hours before planting. I have very good germination results every time. They do not germinate well for me in cool temps, either, so either use a heat mat, or plant them now and hold them over until the next Spring.

You want a place that is moist and then dig down a few inches, put the seeds and then cover them over.

You have to loosen the soil around the location you intend to plant the Althea seeds, a little bit of watering the area of planting will help, but make sure not to add to much water around the planting area, get the althea seeds and plant them one by one at least a foot apart from each other.
