You can install bamboo flooring as opposed to wood floors, though replacing current wood flooring would only waste the wood already used. Replacing windows to be more energy efficient will cut down on waste. Try installing solar panels or other energy collecting device to reduce your consumption.

Energy efficiency! Don't change your floor and paint - instead, get double-paned windows, solar panels, seal places where your heater/AC can escape, and buy "green" products that do not accumulate in landfills. Also, be sure to recycle, especially aluminum.

There are lots of small steps you can take to make your home more green. Start with energy efficiency: add insulation, and install energy-efficient doors and windows. Get energy efficient appliances, hot water and heat. If you remodel, look for low-VOC paints and varnish. Outside the house, minimize pavement to reduce runoff, and landscape with plants that don't need pesticides.

Reduce your energy usage. This can be done by installing insulation, replacing windows, adding solar screens, upgrading to a more efficient air conditioner, or by fixing old and leaky plumbing. You can also install a programmable thermostat, replace bulbs with light emitting diodes (also called LEDs) and finding other ways to reduce electricity use.

You can make your home green by making sure the windows are sealed properly and that you aren't losing heat. Also you need to seal under your doors as well. Also adding insulation to the water heater will help.

To embrace the concept of being green you should try to reduce the electricity/gas/water you consume by using energy star appliances, adding insulation, etc. Paint and flooring is just window-dressing.

The easy way is to set your thermo higher in summer and lower in winter. Next insulate and possibly change your windows. Use responsible harested wood from managed forests, and repaint with Low VOC paints. Cleaning your air ducts will allow your Central heating and air to work easier. You'd be surprised what a difference those things would make.

You can start by changing the light bulbs in your home. General Electric and many other brands available have bulbs you can buy which are more environmentally friendly. You can also look at using renewable resources for remodeling such as bamboo flooring or other natural materials for your new "greener" home.

I save water by not changing my bedding each week. I simply turn the sheets 180 degrees, placing the part of the sheet that was at the top, at the bottom. So unless you have smelly feet...this arrangement feels fresh.

I would use power strips and turn them off at night, use energy effient light bulbs, and compost waste that is biodegradable.

Use energy saving light bulbs and appliances. Change your window panes to be the ones that don't leak heat. Draw curtains closed when turning on heat or air conditioning to not allow it to seep out. Compost organic waste.

Install energy-efficient windows that keep more heat in. Use recycled paint. Buy sustainable woods for flooring. Plant shade trees to keep air-conditioning costs down. Use CFL lightbulbs.
