How do I lay out/design my outdoor room?

There are a couple of different ways. You can get graph paper and assign a value for each little square. The draw the dimensions for each item on the paper. You can arrange the furnishings differently through each drawing. You also can get computer programs that will do this.

I would draw on a piece of paper a rough drawing of the room and make notes of colors and practice drawing or marking where you would want furniture. Doing this can help make a visual.

If you have a nice view take advantage of it and arrange your furniture so that you can admire it. Also, make sure there is some link to the indoors.

Design it with the rooms function in mind. What will you be doing in this area? Bbq? or just catching a little sun? If food will be served think about where and how close you will be to the kitchen.

If you are doing an outdoor room with area to cook you probably want to keep it away from the seating area. Make the cooking area face the seating area in case the Cook wants to talk to the rest of the people. Make your seating area close enough where people can talk without shouting to one another.
