The ceramic tile should be removed before installing the marble. Laying the marble on top of the tile will result in cracking and an uneven floor.

Honestly, you should not install marble over an already existing ceramic floor. If you are going to the expense of the product, then the best thing would be to tear out the ceramic and more than likely replace the existing subfloor as well. This is the only way to insure a uniform base with no cracking.

This is a Tricky one the best bet is to remove the ceramic and install fresh. If this is not an option then your other methods would be to poor a mud bed and install over that. In my personal opinion its never a good idea and results short and long term can be bad with tile over tile installations.

Just mortar over the ceramic tile and install your marble tile. The ceramic should create a solid base for your new tile.

Clean all ceramic tile - let dry. Allow the tile adequate time to dry. Trowel a latex thinset motar on tile and backs of the marble tiles. Use spacers when laying the tiles on all sides.
