Start small. That way, if your cakes aren't as good, you won't have invested that much into the business. Start by providing cakes to local events such as a Sunday social at a church or at some school event. If it's popular, start branching out though word of mouth.

First of all You need a business plan. This means to write every pros and cons of Your business idea. That is the best way to conclude is it worth it. If still you are good baker but not a manager then you should offer You'r services to another person/restaurant.

Getting your kitchen cleared for "manufacturing a food product" is the first stage. The requirements can be really terrible for a home kitchen. But, many restaurants that already meet these requirements aren't open for breakfast. Offer to rent one. For general biz set up, contact your local SCORE: service-core-of-retired-executives.

Word of mouth is the best way to start a business of this type. First, you will need to sell to someone who will tell others that you are in the business and that your cakes are worth buying. Also, anytime you here someone talking about needing a cake in your travels, drop them a business card.

The best way to start is to do some market research. Try giving out sampled to people to make sure they would buy them.
