Just remember - burn more calories than you consume. Set a target weight, then a weekly weight loss goal (around 1 to 2 pounds a week is safe) and a daily calorie target. Jotting down the calories in what you eat will help you keep from going over.

Slowly ramp up your exercising but don't try to do too much too soon. Adjust your diet towards more fruits and vegetables and less sugary junk food.

You need to find a good diet and exercise plan that works for you. Keep in mind it's okay to eat something that's not good for you once in a while. If you don't do both you probably are not going to get good results.

First, consult a doctor before starting any diet. Don't do a "starvation" type diet-they slow your metabolism, so you are burning fewer calories. Don't skip meals, especially breakfast. Skipping makes you hungrier and saps will power; it also slows your metabolism. Divide your daily ration into five or six small meals. You will burn more calories and not feel starved.

By changing up your lifestyle. This should be done by exercising properly, and maintaining a healthy, nutrious diet at the same time.

Avoid eating after dinner at night. Don't eat between meals except for small portions of fresh fruit or vegetables. Make breakfast your largest meal of the day. Have cereal, one slice of toast, skim milk and berries or half a banana. At lunch and dinner, make sure that at least one half of your plate consists of vegetables and salad.
