How do I get my son to poop in the toilet?

Try and pay attention to the time of day in which he is having BM's, if it is around the same time every day place him on the toilet at that time and tell him that if he has a bm he can have a price. I have round that rewards work best.

Often times children won't do it because they are afraid of the toilet. Make a chart and every time he poops on the toilet give him a sticker. After he's gotten so many stickers reward him for his good behavior. Also tell him when he poops on the toilet you will get him big boy underwear. Kids like that.

Boys are hard to train. There are places that are fun that won't take children if they are not trained. Let him know these fun places and tell him that when he doesn't poop in his pants anymore he can go there. I've done this at a play area at the gym.

Pooping in a toilet is scary for a four year old who has always pooped in a diaper. Try to sit with him and relax him on the toilet by reading books. When you poo, have him in there with you to show him that it is a normal activity.
