You need to be more specific. If you are talking about the shingles then replace them. If the wood is rotting, then you should make a new frame for the overhang and attach it to the house and add the shingles. At that time if you need lightning they I would add that before I put on the shingles.

It depends what's wrong with the overhang. If it is rotten the shingles will have to be removed and the frame replaced.
