If you have an in-ground well and an in-ground septic system you may want to check and make sure that the septic system has not collapsed and tainted the well.

I used to have this problem every 6 months or so. I poured about 1or 2 cups of bleach into the well, and it cleared it up. Did that for 10 years. Always passed inspections when I submitted it.

If you have a rotten egg smell in your well water you probably need to make sure there is nothing in your well, then try a water purifier.

Have you established the cause of the smell, and how long has it been there? This may be a case of hydrogen sulfide gas leaking from the underground which is toxic and fatal when inhaled. I suggest that you don't try to fix this problem by yourself but rather get help from a water quality officer to determine its presence..
