Most bathtub faucets are not detachable. Slow drips which occur in intervals, are normal. You might not be turning the faucet knobs tightly enough. If the knobs are turned as far as they can go, then I wouldn't worry about.

Remove the screw covers on the faucets, turn off the water to the tub or main and drain the faucets. Remove the screws holding the faucets and screw off the bells behind the faucets. You need a pipe wrench to replace the valve which is the cause of leak.

Step 1: Make sure you have new parts available. Step 2: Pry off the handle insert, remove the handle screw (If the handle sticks, heat it with a hair dryer to free it. Be careful; if you pull too hard, it'll break); pop loose the handle & remove the stem. Step 3: Replace stem. Step 4: Use a seat wrench.

It depends where it is leaking but a little caulk can usually seal up most problems. If that does not work trying screwing on the knobs tighter.

You need to remove faucet. Look at gasket; if dry or cracked it needs to be replaced. If there is alot of corrosion, then replace entire faucet handle unit.
