Most residential properties have small stakes placed into the ground to mark the corners of the property. If yours does not have these stakes, or if the stakes are covered by something or missing, you can have a professional survey done.

When we bought our house, our land was surveyed. Someone from a local land surveying company came out and measured our land and home. They drew us a map that showed our house, all roads around our house, our fence, and our trees. They marked the corners of our land with posts so it was visible by eyesight.

Typically, there is a plat (drawing) recorded at the birth of the subdivision that will locate the permanent markers placed in the groun. Locate that document and the call a licensed land surveyor and he will have the equipment that can locate the markers. These markers are items like steel rods or concrete columns place at the corners.

Each needs your Assessors Parcel Number (APN)Now go to your County Assessors Web Page or office,and enter (or look up)the APN. From there you should pull up a map. Using a google map can be helpful, but is not the Official record of your Property.
