How do I diagnose a problem with my oil pressure switch on my Sportster?

You must get another tool in which to find out what the correct pressure is. I would just take the old sensor out and replace.

Drain out all the oil and see what the switch does. Then take some canned air and run it through the lines to clean them out. Fill the bike back up with oil and see what happens. If it doesn't work, you'll need to try the switch on another bike.
