First you need to pick a pair that wick away the sweat. Leather and neoprine give you a better grip than vinyl. Fingerless gloves also prevent sweat buildup. Make sure that they have a snug fit. If you suffer from wrist strain, then you may want gloves that have an attached wrist support.

It really depends upon your personal preference, your comfort level, as well as the size of your hands. However, if you are doing serious, heavy weight lifting, especially when it comes to back exercises, you might want to consider purchasing gloves that have a good amount of padding.

The best way is to try them on. They need to feel comfortable and have good ventilation. They also make some with wrist straps if you would like wrist support.

Make sure they fit tight (but yet not to tight), feel right on you, has a good grip and that you feel comfortable with.
