This candy bar was first called Kandy Kane. The Curtis Candy Company, maker of Baby Ruth, claims the bars were named after President Grover Cleveland's daughter Ruth. Some swear it was named for baseball player, Babe Ruth.

Baby Ruth was not named after the baseball player Babe Ruth. It was created in honor of former US President Grover Cleveland's daughter, Ruth.

Originally named Kandy Kake, the candy bar was renamed Baby Ruth in 1921 after President Grover Cleveland's daughter, Ruth Cleveland.

Snopes says that it's most likely that the candy company used Babe Ruth's name without permission, and therefore offered up the story about President Cleveland's daughter being the namesake.
