Make it a surprise, involve all your friends and the family, like ask someone to bake or cook or prepare the decoration, prepare a streamer, prepare the cocktails or pretend nobody cares your best friend has arrived and then surprise him or her to a place where everybody is gathered.

A surprise party will certainly make it special for your friend. Send invitations to all of her friends and family. Plan on what kind of food you will be serving. Buy welcome home decorations and make it look very festive. Then get them to the party and have a blast.

The party will feel special if you personalize it. Present her with a card signed by everyone who missed her while she was away. Serve food from her favorite local take out place. Give her a list of practical things that changed while she was away like the new favorite bakery and deli.

Charismatic women always make for the best parties. What does your friend like? His he or she a social animal that wants to get wild and crazy at a drunken party full of lascivious behavior? Or is he or she a quiet type that just wants to chill with close friends? Model the party after what your friend enjoys most.

Make sure you invite people who would make is special for your friend--not people just for you. Ask a reporter from your local paper to cover the event.

Well first you must throw this in a place that is familiar to the person coming home. Also brainstorm of the kinds of foods that this person likes as well as drinks (whether non-alcoholic, alcoholic, or both). Lastly invite familiar friends over. Adding some good music doesn't hurt either.
