To figure out whether the desk is in good condition, look to see if it has all its original parts, or if it has been repaired in the past. Also look to see if any parts are loose and close to falling off. You should also assess the condition of the wood; is it dry and cracked?

Well basically look at the sides of it. Make sure that none of the paint is scraped off from any of the directions. You want to make sure that the cupboards and compartments are clean.

The finish should be shinny and they finish should be consistant. Look for cracks, check to make sure that the legs are sturdy. Make sure all the wood matches and has not been replaced.

antiques can always be sanded stained so the main thing to look at is the integrity of the wood is it soft or hard soft meaning decay is it all original if not can destroy value
