Work out. Work out for at least a few months before, because you are going to be on your feet standing or kneeling or lifting heavy machinery and motorcycle parts all day. You also will want to read up on different types of motorcycles and specificities of bike parts to gain familiarity with them.

In order to prepare yourself for a motorcyle mechanic job you first have to research which school you want to go to in order to get your certification. The second thing you are going to want to do is decide which kind of motorcycles you would like to work on (Harley, Yamaha, Honda, etc...) since the field is very specific.

Experience is the most important thing needed. Having a certificate of completion or degree from a reputable training facility will put you ahead of other mechanics.

There is no sanctioning body that certifies motorcycle mechanics. The first thing you must have is a comprehensive set of tools, then a good general mechanical aptitude. Then you should get to know a senior mechanic at the shop where you want to work

Prepare a resume of previous activities that are representative of what you could do for a new shop. Stories and examples of previous success speaks volumes to a hiring manager. Be brief and concise about experience.
