From what I understand, you can identify four spider types based on their web. Funnel-shaped webs are naturally built by Funnel Web spiders (Agelenidae). Orb spiders (Araneidae) make the "typical" kind of web with spokes coming out from the center. "Tangled" webs are usually in very secluded corners (Theridiidae). Sheet webs are strung in between plant stalks by Linyphiinae.

The use of the internet is a great tool to find what you are looking for. Another source would be your local library.

Arm yourself with a magnifying glass, first of all! Look at the spider's anatomy-legs, belly, fangs, and color. Books and websites will allow you to compare your findings.

You should check out websites with different types of spiders. The website will describe the spider as well as what kind of web they make.
