Make sure you aren't over using your calves. That is a major culprit of calf pain. If you have ruled out over use, then I would consider a deficiency in potassium or calcium, which would need to be checked by a physician. Usually these deficiencies are accompanied by muscle spasms.

There are several things you can try. Use a muscle relaxer like Icy-hot or Ben-Gay. Use a meat tenderizer. Get a massage. Soak in a hot tub. Get some exercise every day, but not too much.

I would suggest a homeopathic remedy that I use for foot cramps but seems to assist all leg pains from the stories I hear. I use Hyland's remedy and since it can't do any harm, I think you might try it. It's called Leg Cramps with Quinine and 3 pills under the tongue will do it. And it's cheap also.

It depends what is causing the pain; some young people experience this during growth, some older adults have peripheral arterial disease, and there are a variety of other causes. Taking magnesium may be helpful for muscle aches. Or look for a posture problem. My calves ache if I sit too long with my legs folded too tightly under the chair.

If you do any sort of sport or physical activity, you may have pulled a muscle. Use a warm compress, holding it there for fifteen minutes several times daily.
