You need to maintain your time. If your morning routine is rushed then give priority to heat the water. First job after you wake up heat the water and at the same time you can do another job. Within that period, water gets hot.

It takes awhile for my shower to heat up too. Turn on the water, then flush the toilet. Wait a second and the water should be hot.

Depending on how hot the water is already and how efficient your tank is it can take a while to warm up. You could upgrade to what is called a "tank-less" setup. This system will supply unlimited hot water pretty much instantly. These cost more but can save you in the long run with tax incentives and lower operating costs.

You can heat water fast in a microwave oven. Make sure that you put the amount of water needed in a microwaveable container. Make sure that you set the microwave on high. 1 cup of water generally takes 4 minutes to boil. Wait until the microwave beeps to indicate that the water is already hot.
