Firstly, DON'T PICK AT IT. Scarring is far more likely if you repeatedly disturb your skin as it is trying to heal. In order to help reduce inflammation and keep the site clean, I suggest Witch Hazel. It's cheap and widely available at drugstores; just wipe it onto the irritation a few times a day.

The best thing to do is take two bendryls this will usually help any allergic reactions and it usually works pretty fast. As for avoiding scarring that should really be a problem if you dont scratch your face.

Firstly, you have to know what kind or type of allergic reaction it is? Go see your dermotologist, and follow the instructions he gives. Also try to keep your face clean, wash only with water regularly during the day and try not to touch your face a lot. Also keep your hands clean, maybe use a hand sanitizer.

I recommend going to a herbalist who will assess your diet, lifestyle and produce a formula for you to take made of natural substances that will help clear out toxins.
