To fabricate a Dutch-door, half-door, or stable-door; You can saw a pre-fabricated solid-core (NOT hollow-core) door in half; Or you can custom-fabricate the Dutch-door's (2)halves from: 2'x4' lumber-framing, & finished-wood paneling or plywood. Get an old wood solid door and cut it in half. You will need to cut one of the pieces a little smaller so you can put a ledge on the bottom piece. You will also need 2 hindges on each half. This does not work with a hollow door.

Well, it is pretty difficult to build the door. Get the necessary wood and building tools that you would require. I would suggest getting a self help book as it is very difficult to build the door without visuals. I have tried it before and got the book from Home Depot. It was a success for me.

A dutch door can be built by removing a standard door from its jamb and cutting it in half. An additional and latch will be needed, and a handle.

I would take a solid wood door and cut it where you want the height to be. Groove out a section on the side of the door to house the hardware. Put a cap on the top of the door to finish it off.

A dutch door is a regular door sawed in half and with two sets of hardware (doorknob, hinges, etc.). Use a solid wood door for this. Before you saw it, hang it with the extra hinges so that it will be properly aligned.
