When parakeets hatch they are almost the same size as the egg. Don't be alarmed at their small size. They grow very quickly. Usually they leave the nest at about 4 weeks. Keep in mind that mom produced one egg a day until she was finished. Each baby hatched on a different day making slight variations in size and maturity.

They are about the size of the small eggs they hatch from. They get a little bit of fuzz at a week old and by ten days they have feathers.
