How are scars treated with dermal manipulation?

My doctor mentioned that I may like to have this procedure done. What is involved, and what are the risks?

Usually used for acne scars. The "pockets" are filled with material and the scar is diminished. Very little risk or pain is involved.

Cream can be used on scars to make them go away it takes quite of bit of time to get them to go away. Also the manipulation can take awhile because has to be "broken" up so it takes time to make it go away if it ever does depending on if it is a keloid scar or not

There are methods to massage the scar and it will become less visible. One method is to remove the root of the scar with surgery. There are creams that help reduce the visibility of the scar. Sometimes applying pressure to the scar can smooth by rubbing ice in circles periodically.

Scars are formed due to pigmentation of the dermis and epidermis during burn injury. It can be treated by dermatologic surgeries which help in basement membrane development. This surgery involves cultured epithelial autograft and the risks involved are infection and dryness of skin.

A fluid is injected underneath the scar. The fluid reduces the appearance of scar tissue and hopefully reduces the appearance of the scar itself. The risks are allergic reaction, rash, bleeding, soreness. Ask your doctor for furter details.
