Make sure you wash your hands before you touch it at all times. If it's excreting funny smelling puss, you might have a problem, could be an infection. I recommend some neosporin and keep it as clean as possible. Healing should take about a week or two. Your nose doesn't have much to fight bacteria with.

It takes 4 to 5 days to heal. If after following aftercare instructions (and proper jewelry was used) the area still appears strange or a lump develops seek medical help.

If you get a nose ring the healing process should not take to long. If you you follow the instructions of the person who did you nose ring you should be fine. If it looks infected go to the doctor.

Normally after a day of healing you will see a red ring around the stud. This is a sign of it beginning to heal itself. Between the next 3 to 7 days you will see puss come out of it; make sure you rinse with salt water.
