Does tooth pain always indicate a problem?

I hate going to the dentist.

Yes, it does. This could be a sign of a severe cavity, gum infection, or chipped tooth. It could be caused by grinding of the teeth or severe sensitivity, which need to be addressed before teeth are lost from those conditions.

Tooth pain does not always indicate a problem, but it normally does indicate that something is wrong. There could be a cavity or increased tooth sensitivity. Oftentimes, it is indicative of a gum issue.

Nine times out of ten, I would say that it does indicate a problem. If you are hurting, it is for a reason. The dentist will usually give you an antibiotic that will clear up the pain problem before he works on you anyway.

It doesn't always, but to be on the safe side I would go see a dentist. There is nothing to be scared of about going to a dentist. They will not hurt you.
