This question transforms to: What do you mean by death? In the light saber battle with Darth Vader, Obi Won surrenders, holding his saber vertically. When struck down, only his clothing is left -- as demonstrated by Vader. Luke later hears Obi Won's voice, and the spirits of Obi Won, Annikin, and Yoda are all present at the final celebration.

George Lucas intentionally left it somewhat vague whether or not Obi Wan dies in his fight with Darth Vader near the end of Star Wars. However, since his ghost appears with Annakin and others at the end of Return of the Jedi, it seems logical that he had probably died. It is not a certainty, however.

Obi Won Kenobie dies in episode four A New Hope. He is killed by Darth Vader. Darth Vader was originally Anakin Skywalker, a slave, who Obi Won rescued from the planet Tatooine. Obi Won took Anakin on as his apprentice against the warnings of Master Yoda. Anakin later was taken over by the dark side.

Yes, in Episode IV, A New Hope, he is killed by Darth Vader on the Death Star as the rest of the crew of the Millennium Falcon are escaping. It looks like he just disappears. It doesn't really look like death, but more that he had reached enlightenment through his battle with Vader.
