Does my credit history start from the moment I get my SSN even though I don't have a credit card?

Where does credit history come from?

Credit history starts the first time you get a credit card or loan from a bank, car dealer, or another company that reports the status of the account (on time payments, late or missed payments, loan paid off completely) to any of the three major credit bureaus.

Credit history is developed over time. Credit cards are one way to build credit history, you can also go to like Rent A Center and pay that off on time that also could build credit history.

No, you will not have a credit history until you have some kind of credit. In order to have a credit history you will need to have either a credit card or a loan such as a personal or auto loan. Until you have some credit, you will not have a credit history or credit score.

It comes from everything we have and do, light bills, phone bills, credit card bills, even doctors and rent or house payments. Everything from the time our SSN is in the system shows up on our reports, late payments, on time payments, even trying to get credit and insurance shows up. So be careful and guard you SSN closely.
