No, lightning never comes from the ground. It comes from the sky. Since the ground does not generate electricity it is not even possible for lightning to come from it.

No it's the other way around. It is actually generated from the sky. If it came from the ground less people and objects would be stuck by lightening. It does, however, go into the ground.

No lightning originates in the clouds and then travels down to the ground. Sometimes it appears that the lightning is going from the ground up but that is nothing more than a illusion. The forces that generate lightning are in the sky during a storm and it starts from the top.

Lightning strikes both down and up. After an initial probing strike from the sky, the majority of electrical power from the strike comes up from the ground.
