Yes, everything exists as a solid, liquid, or gas, but not at the same time. Only if the temperature is at the point where the change is happening will the thing be in two states. Think of ice cubes in a glass of water. That is water in two states.

Not everything exists as a solid, liquid or gas. There is a forth state of matter called plasma. For the most part, the state of matter has to do with temperature and pressure. Water for example is a liquid when it is between about 0 and 100 degrees Celsius. Any lower and it's solid, higher and it's gas.

Every thing has a solid, liquid or gas phase but getting the pressure and temperature to get the different states may be difficult. For instance, Nitrogen boils at more than negative 100 degrees C. Whic means that pressure would have to increase to get liquid or solid Nitrogen on Earth, but Neptune has solid Nitrogen snow.

Not everything falls into just one of these categories. A fourth phase is called plasma, which is what the sun is made of. Those three are just the most common.
