While many people have a mistaken belief that it does, calcium has been proven to have no beneficial effect in reducing tartar on teeth. While some foods do reduce tartar, it is best to have tartar removed by a dental professional.

Calcium does not reduce tarter, but it does help to strengthen the enamel on teeth. This is mainly important for newer teeth of children, but is still somewhat important for adults. The best way to reduce tartar and plaque is by brushing 2 to 3 times per day and flossing regularly.

No. If anything it would increase it. Tartar or calculus is the buildup of plaque on our teeth that becomes solidified as minerals in our saliva are laid down in it. Ergo - more minerals, more calculus. Brush meticulously, get professional cleans regularly, chew sugar free gum and drink plain old water.
