You can try to prevent it by avoiding suction and hard foods for several days. But occasionally a blood clot doesn't develop at all, and you have dry socket automatically.

People are usually the cause of dry socket. After extraction, a gauze is temporarily applied to allow the blood to clot in the socket. If left in too long, it can pull the clot out and leave the socket suseptable to dry socket. The tendancy to suck and swallow is the next most common cause.

Drt socket is a common complecation of teeth. Moct of people often suffer this problem. If blood clot does not flow properly in teeth then dry socket may be occur. Tooth extraction does not creat a dry socket autometically. But most of time it happens after difficult extraction of tooth.
