Sometimes we do turn to prescription drugs too easily but when they are so readily available, doctors tend to prescribe them when the symptoms indicate they may help. People are also bombarded with TV commercials about different cures for ailments of all kinds and almost are made to feel stupid if they don't seek help.

Prescription drugs have saved many lives; statin and other types of drugs prevent problems in the long run. Psychotropics have contributed to people feeling able to get through life. Nevertheless, the pharmaceutical industry markets drugs directly to people, leading some people to being prescribed drugs they don't need.

My belief is that we are, because we do not want to feel any discomfort. However, medicine should be used only when absolutely necessary, for a few different reasons. One is side effects, and another is development of resistance to medication, so higher doses become necessary.

Yes, I do and some doctors are not writing prescriptions as easily as they once did. In fact prescriptions are no longer being given to children for common colds and virus's. We are no longer treating symptoms, instead we are treating the sickness. Which is how it should always be.

Prescription drugs are used by people to avoid situations. We are a society of "I can't cope" but if I use prescription drugs I can, and they're legal.
