Have you given your dog a cheaper brand of topical flea treatment lately? Many dogs have bad reactions to cheap flea treatments. If the dog has fleas or allergies he could be severely scratching and biting, causing the hair to fall out. It could be mange, thyroid problems or improper nutrition. Separate from other pets and see your vet.

I keep veterinary eye wash on hand in case my dog does get an irritant in the eye. but if you do not have that handy.. the tears will help wash away the hair. You can also use plain clear, clean water on the eye to wash away irritants.

Most dogs shed, so some amount of hair loss is normal, but if it is excessive, or if your dog is scratching it out, see a Vet.

In early spring and late winter dogs shed there hair aka "coats". In sprint they shed there winter coat, and fall shed there summer coat.
