Trigger point injections can definitely do wonders for pain management, but there is always a fluke chance that the effects can be very temporary. For example, I had an injection in my knee and was told that it could last days or weeks depending on numerous factors. There were no guarantees, but I haven't had any pain in a month.

Yes, especially where there is a trigger point - or a knot muscle that forms when the muscle can't relax. These knots can often be felt under the skin. A lot of times these "knots" cause pain in other areas of the body called referred pain. More than one trigger point can be treated during a single doctors visit.

This is effective for pain in the arms, legs, neck and back and has also been helpful for fybromyalgia, tension induced pain and myofascial pain syndrome.

Yes, it has been found that trigger point injections do help manage pain. It is also found that you can get accupressure muscle therapy from a masage therapist that is trained in this area that will help. You could see a accupuncture specialist who is usually a Chiropractor trained in this area.
