Measure your window, allow extra for seams, hems and turning under the top. Gathered curtains will take 2 1/2 to 3 times the width of the window in fabric. You can also line your curtains.

Yes they make sewing patterns for curtains. Each design has to have a pattern for you to go by. Making curtains is great and a very cheap way to decorate and give any room a great new look.
